GPS Algebra Suppout Classes

We finished going over, slowly and in detail, # 17-20 on the Radical Review Worksheet.  You were then given your graded paper back.  A copy of the solutions was stapled to the back of your returned paper.

We then reviewed yesterday's lesson on Functions from GPS Algebra.  You were given a handout that reviewed the following topics:

1)  Giving the coordinates of plotted points (2 problems - # 1-3) 

2)  Plotting points and giving the location of the point in the coordinate plane (5 problems - # 4-9). 

The back of the worksheet was blank so we used it to take some notes on before we began working on this assignment.

I did # 1 and 4 with you in class and then you were to complete up through # 9 on your own in class.  This assignment was due at the end of the period.

The assignment will be graded for accuracy.  Number 2 and 3 counted 20 points each because there were 4 points to write out the coordinates for. Number 5-9 counted 10 points each, five points for plotting the point correctly and five points for giving the correct location.  The other 10 points came from having the notes copied on the back of the worksheet.

GPS Algebra Classes

We went over each problem from yesterday's homework assignment (What are Functions? Worksheet).  All questions were answered.

We then went through the notes on Discrete versus Continuous Variables.  You were given a handout for the notes.  The back of the handout had two examples that we worked out together in class.

You were then given a Continuous versus Discrete Graphs Worksheet and allowed to work on it for the rest of the class period.

The homework assignment for today is to complete the Continuous versus Discrete Graphs Worksheet if you did not finish this assignment in class.

Wednesday, November 9th

GPS Algebra Support Classes

You received back your grade sheet for the Spiral Notebook Check.

We spent the rest of the class period going over # 1-16 on the Radicals Review Worksheet.  I went through each problem very slowly, in detail, and explained each step.  You were to write each of these problems on notebook paper and include every step.

We will finish going over # 17-20 tomorrow in class and then you will get your graded paper back.

GPS Algebra Classes

As you entered the room there was a note on the document camera to turn in both assignments from Monday.  These were:

1) Extra Practice on Solving Equations & Order of Operations Worksheet

2) Extra Practice on Factoring Worksheet

The Unit 3 Calendar (1st half) was handed out and gone over in detail.

We then went through notes on Functions.  The notes were given to you on a handout and you were to follow along and work through the example problems included in the notes as we went through them in class.

You were then given a handout titled: What are functions, how do you find their domain and range, and how do you use function notation?  I went through and discussed each set of directions on the handout with you. 

You were given the rest of the class period to work on this assignment.

The homework assignment for today is to complete the What are functions, how do you find their domain and range, and how do you use function notation? Worksheet.

Monday, November 7th

GPS Algebra Support Classes

You turned in your Spiral Notebook.  These were graded in class and returned to you at the end of the period.  You will receive your grade sheet back in class on Wednesday.

Your assignment for today was to complete a Radical Review Worksheet.  You were able to use any notes, your Notetaking Guide, textbook, and any previous assignments to help you complete these 20 problems.  This assignment was due at the end of the period.  It will be graded for accuracy and returned to you in class on Wednesday.

GPS Algebra Classes

The Unit 2 Test #2 was handed back and all questions were answered.

You were given a worksheet titled: Extra Practice on Solving Equations & Order of Operations.  I completed the following with you in class, step-by-step: # 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15, 16, and 19. 

You were also given an Extra Practice on Factoring Worksheet in class.  You were given some time in class to work on these assignments.

*You were told in class that one or both of these assignments will be collected on Wednesday and graded for accuracy.  So make sure you have them both done when you come to class on Wednesday.  Just a reminder...you must show all of your work and circle, box-in, or highlight each answer.

The homework assignment for today is to complete both extra practice worksheets.

I went back through the information that needs to be included in the Spiral Notebook for the next check, which will be on Monday, November 7th.

The rest of the class period was spent reviewing Unit 1 and 2 for the Benchmark Test.

GPS Algeba Support Classes

I began class by answering any questions you had over any of the material that was in the second half of Unit 2.

I then handed back the Rational Review Worksheet and explained how it was graded.  This assignment was graded for completion only and not for accuracy.  I gave you a copy of the worked out solutions so that you could check your answers for accuracy.  I answered all questions over this assignment.

I spent the rest of the class period putting back on the document camera the work that is to be included in the Spiral Notebook for the next check.

Wednesday, November 2nd

GPS Algebra Support Classes

You were given a Practice Worksheet over Rationals to complete in class.  This will be graded for completion and returned to you tomorrow.

You will have a Practice Worksheet over Radicals to complete during class tomorrow.

GPS Algebra Classes

I began with showing you again the solutions to the Rationals Quiz you took this past Friday.  The Quiz was handed back to you on Monday and you were told to bring it to class today so that your questions could be answered.

I then handed back the Radicals Quiz from yesterday.  I put the correct answers on the document camera and also answered any questions you had.

You were given a handout with the solutions to the Review Worksheet for the Unit 2 Test #2 on it.  I gave you time during class to check your answers for accuracy and then I spent the rest of the class period answering your questions.

The homework assignment for today is to study and prepare for the Unit 2 Test #2, which is tomorrow.

*Remember to bring a calculator, pencil and eraser to class tomorrow!

Reminder...

the Benchmark Test is this Friday, November 4th.  It is over Unit 1 and 2 so make sure you are spending some time going back and reviewing all of the material we have covered since the beginning of the year.

Tuesday, November 1st

GPS Algebra Support Classes

You were given the class period to review all of the material on Radicals.  Your assignment was out of the Notetaking Guide.  You were to complete the following in class:

Page 154 # 4-12 and # 16-18

Page 155 # 19-27

Page 159 # 14 and # 20

After you completed each page, I put up the solutions for that particular page and answered questions.

GPS Algebra Classes

For the first part of the class period, you took the Radicals Quiz using iRespond.  You were given the rest of the class period to work on the Review Worksheet for the Unit 2 Test #2, which is this Thursday.

The homework assignment for today is to complete the Review Worksheet for the Unit 2 Test #2.
